Cushion's done!

in

Phew! Made it. The birthday cushion is finished and wrapped, ready for the birthday boy to open next week. Hooray. I can remember drawing a picture for my mum when I was little and watching her stitch it onto a cushion for Grandma, so life does go full circle! Hopefully Benjamin will love having his very own 'Mummy's work' to keep.

Stitch in time

in

Stitching is a lovely, restful, peaceful thing to do... except when you've got deadlines!

I think that as soon as my fingers know there's a deadline they cramp up and take forever. However, there's one deadline left for magazine work this year (hooray!), and then it's on to the backlog of stitching I've got to get done for Duncan. He is getting excessively annoyed with me, but I am getting a lot better at ignoring his little pouts and gouts of flame.

Cough cough splutter

The good news: we are all getting towards healthy again. The bad: dragon snot is corrosive. This makes it very difficult for poor Duncan to wipe his nose. The only one to avoid the 'tag-you're-it-lurgy' has been hubby, and he's exhausted from looking after all of us. He's off to Japan for a week for work soon, so he'll be happy to escape the germ infested house.

Year of the Unorganised

in

I have decided to endow this year with the above title. It fits on the dragon calendar after 'Year of the Good Intentions' and the 'Year of the Stark Reality'. I do, however, yearn for the 'Year of Error Free Applique', but Duncan tells me that only comes around once every 70 years or so. So if you've already had a year like that, sorry, that was it. Hope you got a lot done.

I was chatting on email a couple weeks ago, and confessed I should do a section on the site called 'Brain Fades I have committed'. So here goes. For example, have you ever...

Marching on...

in

Well, another birthday is just around the corner, and I am now closer to 40 than 30. Sigh... Oh to be 26 again... However, it's also our 10 year wedding anniversary this week. Hooray! I've been married to a wonderful man for a decade! Worth celebrating! My husband is so awesome he's even taking a day off work so I can visit the craft show without cling-ons this year.

February

in

Yup, it's February. The year is already galavanting along at a frenetic frenzy.

I could have entitled this news section as 'Frenetic February' as all good Missionary Kids know newsletter titles MUST use alliteration! But I have resisted the evil temptation.

January jottings

in

It's hot, and it's hot, and it's hotter again. Duncan is sunbaking in the courtyard, with his little fat belly getting more and more leathery as the summer days go by. What have we been doing this month? We are trying to rev ourselves up for an all out attack on 2010 after a 'quiet' 2009. Well, it's been quiet work wise, but on the home front, the kids are anything but!
